Mister Oswald is in the News!

The North American Hardware and Paint Association (NHPA) is celebrating its 125th anniversary, and they wanted to include Russ Johnson and Mister Oswald in the celebration! The NHPA publishes Hardware Retailing magazine, where Mister Oswald got his start nearly 100 years ago, so it’s only fitting that he be invited to the party!

Larry Day, the artist who took over the reins of Mister Oswald from Russ Johnson upon his retirement, and I were both interviewed for the article by Lindsey Thompson, the managing editor of the magazine. Larry offers some wonderful insights about what it was like to get to know Russ, and learning about his working process before eventually taking over the strip on his own.

I wrote about my introduction to Mister Oswald, its importance as a societal reflection in comic strip form, and the creation of this very website.
